Tazo Tea Company is a manufacturer and distributor of many popular teas. Tea drinkers consider their teas to be premium quality and a few notches above your typical supermarket brand.
You can basically find this brand everywhere. The company prides itself on its highly selective process of choosing teas and quality natural ingredients.
Tell me more about Tazo Tea Company
History
The company was originally founded in Portland, Oregon, but Starbucks eventually purchased the company in 1999 for $8.1 million, so now it is based out of Kent, Washington. Steve Smith founded the company back in 1994 along with his business partners Stephen Lee and Tom Mesher.
Steve Smith has been a serial entrepreneur when it comes to tea and continuously has succeeded with creating great tea products. In fact, he co-founded the Stash Tea Company in 1972, which was sold to a Japanese tea company.
It was claimed that the original formula of Tazo teas came from an ancient stone called the Tazo Stone, but I think this was more of a marketing gimmick to build some mystery behind the brand.
Where to buy
Previously, Tazo teas were difficult to find, but nowadays, you can find them at most supermarkets, even at superstores like Wal-Mart. Steve Smith was able to use his marketing skills to convince food stores, restaurants, and tea houses to start offering Tazo teas. As of November 2012, Starbucks opened the first Tazo-branded tea shop.
Types of tea
Tazo Tea sells their teas in full leaf form, filterbags, tea latte concentrates, sachets, and in bottles. Most of their teas are gluten free and contain very little carbohydrates or calories. As far as caffeine content, the caffeine content will depend on the type of tea being purchased. In most cases, tea does contain less caffeine than most coffees.
Tazo claims that since 1994, it has created over 100 unique and all-natural tea, fruit and herbal beverages. They also claim to use herbs and botanicals from 29 countries to combine with their tea leaves.
I always recommend to read reviews online on such sites as steepster.com or amazon.com to see what other tea drinkers have to say. Of course, we all have our own preferences, so do not rely entirely on the review.
Some of their best selling versions include Tazo Chai Tea Latte, Tazo Green Tea Latte Concentrate, Tazo Earl Grey Filterbag tea, and Tazo Awake English Breakfast Filterbag Tea. They even sell K-cup single serves to use in the Keurig Gourmet Single Cup Home Brewing System.
Price
The prices appear very reasonable for the high quality tea being offered, with prices as low as a few dollars for a box. They also offer sampler packs, which are good for tea drinkers who are not sure of which flavors they prefer the most.
They do offer various coupon codes online, so it is worth searching for them on Google. I have previously found codes for free shipping and 10% off your first purchase.
